In the Kitchen with Thrive: Thanksgiving Edition
In the Kitchen with Thrive: Thanksgiving Edition
Thrive Weight Loss has given Greater Rome and beyond a lot of food for thought with 4,000 people having shed more than 50,000 pounds in the past couple of years through what founder Travis Martin calls a lifestyle approach rather than a diet.

Martin knows first-hand what his clients face since he has lost more than 100 pounds himself in what started him on his journey to becoming a Rome-based health guru.

Now he’s taking his message of healthful eating and cooking online with a new video program “In the Kitchen with Thrive” that debuts on RN-T.com today.

The paid video programming is produced by NPCo Productions, the commercial video arm of News Publishing Co., the parent company of the Rome News-Tribune.

"In the Kitchen with Thrive" is a video show that will be posted on RN-T.com each month through April.

Today’s show kicks off the video series as Martin introduces Thrive chef Josh Dewrell, who demonstrates Thanksgiving meal options that are “all healthy and great tasting.”

“People eating with you probably won’t even know they’re Thriving,” said Martin.

Dewrell and fellow chef Jeremy Kelley demonstrate how to prepare a meal of herb-crusted roasted turkey breast, stuffed mushrooms, roasted cauliflower mash, squash casserole and a mushroom gravy. The recipes are available at Thrive Weight Loss Care Centers in the region.

They also offer up meal presentation tips since people “eat with your eyes” too, said Dewrell.

Today’s debut show runs about 15 minutes with future shows running about 10 minutes.

The program will have its own Web page on RN-T.com’s multimedia section. Go to our home page, click on Multimedia and then click the Thrive Rome link.

The multimedia page will also include a blog written by Thrive team members.

December’s show will spotlight more healthy holiday cooking ideas for the Christmas season and is expected to post mid-month, according to Will Raybon, NPCo multimedia consultant who produced the initial program.

“We’re excited to bring on a strong company like Thrive for the first show because this is just the tip of the iceberg for our new media capabilities,” said Raybon.

He said beginning in 2010, there will two shows a month for “In the Kitchen with Thrive” and a fitness element will be added.

“We hope to produce more shows in the future that will provide information to our readers and viewers and exposure to local companies,” said Raybon.
