On Saturday, 333 will become Rome’s first piano bar when Dueling Pianos, a comedy piano show has its first week at the downtown bar and then every Saturday night after that.

Four pianists - Hugh Tyner, Daniel Deal, Ty Reynolds and Mark Kolvey - will rotate each week. Guests can enjoy the family-friendly atmosphere, request songs, sing along and clap along to the show.

“Over the years I have enjoyed piano bars when I am on vacation,” said 333 proprietor Jay Shell. “You mostly see this type of entertainment in bigger cities or vacation destinations. I am very excited about it. If you have ever experienced this type of show then you know how much fun it can be.”

Shell said he’s hoping that the community will support the idea of a piano bar even though it may be a foreign concept to some.

“I think it’s a good idea and feel it deserves a shot,” he said. “This will give Romans another option for something to do.”

The audience will control most of the show each night as guests request their favorite songs. So whether it’s Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire,” Billy Joel’s “Piano Man,” “Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” or something from Lady GaGa or Bruno Mars, the guests choose the songs and then sing along.

The show takes place every Saturday at 333 on Broad. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the three-hour show begins at 9 p.m. Seating is limited to early arrival is encouraged.
