While Peoples Financial, which had been located for more than 60 years was forced to move in short order as part of plans for improvements to Second Avenue and the Second Avenue-Turner McCall intersection, the AT&T store is expected to stay right where it is until the company moves into a new store at the Charles Hight Square complex at Fifth Avenue and Turner McCall.

Don Barbour, a spokesman for AT&T confirmed last week that the store has not been asked to find temporary quarters in advance of the full move that is expected to occur some-time late in the summer or early fall of 2013.

The work will also involve acquisition of some right of way from the Floyd Medical Center.

No word yet from the Georgia DOT as to when actual work on the Second Avenue project will begin. The project will involve widening of the road from West Third Street all was to the Turner McCall intersection with the addition of a center turn lane.

The work will also involve a major transformation of the intersection at Turner McCall.
