Owners Jim and Sharon Southerland have decided that they will not attempt to reopen their Sage Cottage Restaurant, 122 North Main Street in Adairsville. A fire gutted the business on the afternoon of Sunday August 19, 2012.

The family, who used to own the Adairsville Inn years ago, opened the Main Street Bistro, 106 Public Square in downtown Adairsville back in mid-November. Jim Southerland said that he and his wife, Sharon Southerland, planned to focus their energy on the Bistro which offers a light fare of sandwiches, soups and salads at lunch and heartier evening meals on Friday and Saturday nights.

Jim Southerland did say that the couple has been approved by the Bartow County Health Department to open a commercial kitchen in their Sage Cottage Inn Bed & Breakfast, 97 Ward Mountain Rd., about two miles from Barnsley Gardens.

They have owned the B&B for about four years. “We’re going to put in a kitchen and probably a dining facility here,” Jim Southerland said. “It will be a special events thing. We can’t open as a restaurant.”
