Update: Hoping to build on the success of last month’s block party on Broad Street, Rome’s Downtown Development Authority is hosting another one on Friday night from 7 to 10 p.m.
The Broad Street Block Party will feature free activities for kids and a concert in the 300 and 400 blocks.
Last month’s event in the 200 block drew about 4,000 people downtown.
Children can enjoy activities in the 400 block near El Zarape including inflatables, downtown officials said.
And on the other end of the 400 block, near Jefferson’s, a stage will be set up, and Babe’s Bayou and Daddy Irv will perform.
No one will be allowed to bring adult beverages into the block party, but they can be purchased and taken from one of the restaurants in the 300 or 400 block, said Ann Arnold, director of the Downtown Development Authority. However, adult beverages cannot be taken away from the block party, she said.
The streets will be closed, and cars will be moved out of the party area beginning at about 3 p.m., Arnold said.
Parking will be free in the Fourth and Sixth avenue decks and there is free parking on Broad Street.
