ATLANTA (AP) — Officials with Atlanta's public transit system say they've made progress toward fixing the machines that sell passes to riders but glitches remain.

MARTA officials said in a statement that the machines now accept cash and credit cards, but a problem remains that prevents them from accepting debit cards.

Officials say a San Diego-based technology company is continuing to work with MARTA to fully restore the system's Breeze debit card function as quickly as possible.

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority spokesman Ryland McClendon has said the system wasn't sending the correct data back to the Breeze card vending machines. MARTA officials said they were working to correct the problems.
