The Berry College Concert Series continues Thursday with a performance by acclaimed baritone Elem Eley. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. in Ford Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.
The native Georgian holds a degree in voice from Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and pursued doctoral study at Indiana University. He is the winner of the 1996 Joy in Singing Award and is currently a professor of voice at Westminster Choir College of Rider University.
Thursday’s performance will include works by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Maurice Ravel and Lee Hoiby. Accompanying Eley on the piano will be Kris Carlisle, assistant professor of fine arts at Berry.
This is the second of five performances that have been scheduled for the Berry College Concert Series’ inaugural season. The schedule continues after the holidays with the Atlanta Super Band on Jan. 22, pianist Joe Chapman on Feb. 8 and tenor John Howell, a Berry College alumnus, March 11.
