For nearly a week, a mother bear and her two cubs roamed the streets of Chatsworth, Ga. They dug through garbage cans for scraps and lay down on fresh-cut lawns or in backyards.

Locals snapped photos as they passed the animals or tried to get closer when the bears scampered through yards. Several left food out. Some called 911, dispatchers said, each day the black bears were spotted.

"The bears are in my neighborhood across from my house," one woman told a dispatcher.

I find it hard to believe that after a week the bears were dependent on human food. Seems to me once they found civilization and easy pickins that is why they stayed, but to be dependent on this is another story. WHY have other cities relocated the bears in their area after a week or so. I just feel that GNR took the easy way out.

...."Several left food out."

Please. Never feed wildlife. Once they become accustomed to the feedings they will continue to return. In extreme cases, the animals can never be returned to the wild.
