Cartersville man jailed on DUI, fleeing charges after chase with police

A Cartersville man was jailed early Sunday after he nearly hit a patrol car and then lead police on a chase, reports stated.

According to reports from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office:

Juan Carlos Morales, 30, of 27 Frances Way in Cartersville, was jailed on DUI, fleeing and traffic charges after he was chased by police after he nearly struck a deputy’s patrol car on Sugar Valley Road.

When police tried to pull him over around 1 a.m. Sunday, Morales was reported to have sped up until he reached his house on Frances Way, where he pulled into the driveway and got out.

Morales was placed into custody and taken to the Bartow County Jail, where he was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain a lane and driving without a license.

Police reported finding an unopened can and a empty can of Bud Light in his van.
