The entities were unable to reach a new 10-year agreement on the permanent 1-cent LOST levied to offset property taxes. The issue was sent to Superior Court at the end of 2012 and a judge assignment is pending.
County Manager Mike Helton said the current split gives the county 70.06 percent of the revenue, which is approximately $800,000 to $900,000 a year. Fort Oglethorpe gets 20.47 percent and Ringgold’s share is 9.47 percent.
The cities wanted the county’s share to drop to 61 percent. The county responded with a proposed increase to 79 percent.
