VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in southern Georgia are investigating the cause of a fire that gutted a historic church on Christmas Day.

The Valdosta Daily Times reports the Ousley Temple burned down early Tuesday morning.

Pastor Curtis Sermons told the newspaper the congregation has been welcomed to meet across the street at the Ousley Baptist Church.

Sermons says the church celebrated its 129th anniversary in November and the congregation plans to rebuild.
