College football: NAIA first-round pairings

The NAIA playoffs begin today, with 16 teams in the mix.

Each of the squads is hoping to make a deep postseason run that will culminate with a trip to Rome to play in the NAIA championship at Barron Stadium.

The title game, which has been played on Saturdays in the past, will be played this year on Thursday, Dec. 13.

Listed below is a look at the first-round pairings and the records of each team in the 16-team bracket.

l Game 1: Bethel (Tenn.) (8-3) at Georgetown (Ky.) (10-0), 3:30 p.m.

l Game 2: Ottawa (Kan.) (8-2) at Missouri Valley (10-0), TBD

l Game 3: Montana Tech (8-2) at Morningside (Iowa) (10-0), 1 p.m.

l Game 4: William Penn (Iowa) (9-2) at Saint Xavier (Ill.) (9-1), 1 p.m.

l Game 5: Northwestern (Iowa) (9-2) at Marian (Ind.) (8-1), 1 p.m.

l Game 6: Baker (Kan.) (8-2) at Saint Francis (Ind.) (8-2), noon

l Game 7: MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) (8-2) at Cumberlands (Ky.) (9-1), noon

l Game 8: Southern Oregon (8-2) at St. Ambrose (Iowa) (9-1), 1 p.m.
