Racing concluded Sunday for the double header weekend of cyclocross presented by Cycle Therapy.
Many top riders were honing their skills in preparation for the National Championships next month in Madison, Wisc., as well as the World Championships in February in Louisville, Ky.
Kim Flynn, of Tennessee, won the women’s race and passed every male rider that started one-minute ahead of her in a strong showing. She repeated that feat again on Sunday.
Flynn is targeting the world championships as her primary objective and uses the Rome Winter Cyclocross Series to hone those skills prior to the ultimate test.
Thomas Turner is doing the same in preparation for improving on his Silver Medal from last year’s world championships.
Turner is a former Berry College student and returns to Rome for some competition. That competition comes in the form of Lindale’s Brandon Pruett.
Pruett was recently named to the George Hincapie-BMC junior development cycling team. He placed first on Saturday while Thomas took the podium’s top step on Sunday with Bob Kuhn of Atlanta taking third.
The Rome Winter Cyclocross Series concludes on Jan. 20 at Jackson Hill.
