Darlington’s fine arts department is launching a new program that is open to any adult or child in Rome and its surrounding areas. Darlington Lessons Academy offers aspiring musicians affordable, private weekly lessons by professional instructors who have placed students in renowned music programs across the country.

“Whether you are interested in sharpening your skills in voice, piano, or band and orchestra instruments, the instructors at Darlington Lessons Academy have the expertise you need to help you get to the next level and beyond,” said Kim Tunnell, director of fine arts.

Instructors include Anthony Avitollo (low brass), Sam Baltzer (trombone and low brass), John Bleuel (saxophone), Annie Camp (cello), Kris Carlisle (piano), Sinisa Ciric (violin and viola), Adam Crane (viola), John Davis (flute and saxophone), Mickey Fisher (oboe), Melanie Fuller (flute), Adam Hayes (trumpet), Emmy Hengeveld (bass), Donna Hester (piano), Ellie Jenkins (French horn), Carlye June (French horn), Miriam Marchetti (voice), Tom Moore (trumpet), Luan Mueller (clarinet), Douglas Overmier (percussion), Elisabeth Peulask (violin) and Angele Sherwood-Lawless (violin).

Participants will take lessons once a week for 12 weeks during each semester. The program is open to any student, Darlington or non-Darlington, in grades 1-12 as well as adults.

“We are bringing private lessons right to your doorstep with top-notch instructors, accommodating lesson times, a convenient location and a flexible fee structure,” said Will Camp, director of instrumental music. “Participants can choose from 30, 45 and 60-minute lessons.”
