History, art and computers are just some of the subjects covered by this year’s Berry College fall Senior Scholars program at Oak Hill and the Martha Berry Museum.

In its 18th year, the Senior Scholars program offers those age 55 or older a chance to take courses focusing on a number of different areas.

Classes will be Wednesday through Nov. 15 and the cost ranges from $40-$120 per course. The last day to register for classes is Wednesday with orientation that afternoon between 2 to 5 p.m. at the Martha Berry Museum.

Alice Stevens, education and public services manager for Oak Hill and the Martha Berry Museum, began the program and returned in April to help boost the program after a decline in recent years.

“It has been fun to be able to come back and get it going again,” Stevens said. “I think this is great for a lot of people who would like to meet people with similar interests and just get out and do something fun.”

Courses for the fall include “Ten Secrets of Myrtle Hill,” “Yoga for Seniors,” “Computer Basics — Let’s Begin” and “Fall Colors Plein Air Workshop.”

“Ten Secrets of Myrtle Hill” will explore the mysteries and symbolism of the historic cemetery and feature a tour of Myrtle Hill and local landmarks.

“Computer Basics — Let’s Begin” provides a basis for learning about email, the Internet and other activities on the computer while “Fall Colors Plein Air Workshop” is a 3-day course in November that will have students paint landscape scenes inspired by the grounds of Oak Hill and The Martha Berry Museum.
