with their recent mail pieces attacking Republican Eddie Lumsden. Instead of talking about the issues that will create jobs or help working families, the Georgia Democratic Party sent an attack piece on Friday, October 26th, against Eddie Lumsden stating he supported and continues to support HR 1162, now on the ballot as Amendment One. This is the public policy that would establish for-profit charter schools in Georgia.
“The Georgia Democratic Party is running negative attack ads against me and lying about my record. I am the son of an educator and the husband of a former educator. My kids went to public schools, and my grandkids go to public schools. I have stated at debates and to the local media that I oppose Amendment One because I believe this policy takes away local control of education,” stated Lumsden.
“For the Democratic Party to attack me with this mail piece, as well as another negative mail piece the week before stating I supported the hospital bed tax, which I did not and continue to oppose, shows that they are willing to do anything to win. Their strategy is to attack, lie, and deceive. I am hopeful the people of District 12 will reject this political ploy,” continued Lumsden.
“When the Georgia Republican Party sent out a mail piece stating I was the incumbent, I publicly acknowledged the error and asked that the state party not send out any mailer with incorrect information regarding me or my opponent. I am hopeful that Barbara Massey Reece will join me in asking the Georgia Democratic Party to publicly correct this matter, and apologize for lying about my record on education and taxes,” concluded Lumsden.
