GEORGIA POWER is spending more than $300 million across Georgia, including currently in the Rome area, to put in capacitor banks for the purpose of keeping the flow of electricity on an even keel.

While this ability to “even out” voltage has many advantages, it is especially a good thing for people/business using computers and other electronic gadgetry susceptible to both surges (upward spikes) and brownouts (voltage drops) that can really mess up their work/Internet tools. Dealing with such is why surge protectors and battery backups are the norm for most such installations. Those will doubtless continue to be wise things to have but less likely to kick in.

Now then ... when do many Romans get a life without sudden total losses of power? The writer lost his twice at home last week.

Maybe this is why they have became the Grinch. They need the poors deposit to pay for this. God forbid it come from their profit or money they have earned. They would rather get money and not have to pay interest or actually earn it.

I have never had my power shut off. I have always made payment arrangements when there was going to be a problem.

Georgia Power waits to the month of Christmas to ad on a 150.00 deposit on top of the deposit we already made when they hooked us up and inspected our home. We are not renters and have lived in the same place for almost 4 years so why would they all of a sudden do this to people this month especially when we are struggling as it is ?

We are currently living on workers compensation due to an injury serving the public and are barely getting by on 300 a week for a family of 6. I guess they feel my four children do not deserve Christmas. I  would understand if I had missed a payment, but I haven't! How is this right! How are they allowed to just add money to your bill like that? This is simply not fare!!!

Please make a phone call to Georgia Power 1-888-660-5890 and ask for a manerger and tell them not to take poor peoples Christmas away just for they can draw some extra interest.

If there is anything you can do to help like, write a letter or call please do.....Thank you, a parent who will have to see their children's face when Santa does not come because of Georgia Power being greedy

P.S. I am all for making money but this is money they didn't make and I've already paid one deposit of 150.00. I just can not understand why they did this now at Christmas when nothing else has changed. Thank you for your help, Terrie
