It is estimated that, overall, the Wings Over North Georgia Air Show landed some $2.8 million in the local economy the last week of September to become the community’s largest single visitor attraction — more than the NAIA championship football game, more than any tennis tournament. And it plans to come back in 2013 and probably thereafter.
“We really need to jump on it and get behind it next year,” said Chip Hood, who chairs the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee. Sure should … it drew more than 35,000 spectators even though the days were heavily cloudy and the weather constantly threatening. And, best of all as the results now put on display, it shows the community what a valuable asset they own.
