A RANKING OF TOP HOSPITALS in the state in Georgia Trend magazine (and done for them by the Wellstar Health System) showed Redmond Regional Hospital in Rome as No. 1 among medium-sized hospitals overall. Floyd Medical Center made the “top 20” listing as well, coming in at No. 19.

And, among “critical access” hospitals, defined in federal standards as rural primary care, Polk Medical Center (now being led by FMC) came in as No. 2 in the state. Not bad at all and just part of a steady stream of top rankings for the local facilities in various breakdowns overall or in specific services provided, as befits a regional medical center.

Now then, when do consumers get to see a listing of “Most Affordable Top Quality Hospitals”? That would be the one that probably would get the most attention.
