Firefighters were called to the building, which houses Epiphany Center Rome and Accounting and Tax Services of Rome, a little after 8 p.m. after a motorist reported smoke coming out of the roof.
No flames were visible outside of the building and firefighters were able to locate the fire and get it extinguished within an hour.
The cause of the fire remained unknown Monday night and fire investigators were called in to begin their work to determine what happened.
No one was inside the building at the time but one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at the scene.
