Romecast Inc. registered with the Georgia Secretary of State in December 2012, with John R. Grimes, an Atlanta attorney, listed as the registered agent. Grimes was not available for comment Wednesday afternoon. The sale price was listed at $4,485,800.
Heather Seckman, economic development director at the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, referred all calls to Jimmy Byars, CEO at Hardy Realty, who has had Florida Tile, 6739 New Calhoun Highway, Shannon, listed for sale for months.
Byars said he didn’t know what the buyers intend for the property.
Florida Tile’s Shannon plant opened in 1981 and manufactured ceramic floor tile. The plant also added decorative and trim tile to its production during an expansion in 2004, but closed in 2006.
