The total number of eligible Northwest Georgia voters dropped by another 2,363 last month, although Floyd County was among the areas that boosted its rolls.

“We’ve had some pretty good interest,” Elections Clerk Donna Brandon said.

Local officials are finalizing their lists of voters for the Nov. 6 election — removing those who have become ineligible through inactivity or relocation and adding those who have signed up. Tuesday is the deadline to register.

As of Oct. 1, there were 224,197 registered in Floyd, Bartow, Chattooga, Polk, Gordon, Walker, Catoosa and Dade counties, according to the latest Georgia secretary of state report.

The Sept. 1 report showed 226,560 on the rolls — already a decrease from the 236,769 registered for the last presidential election in 2008.

The October report to the state showed 130 new voters registered in Floyd County during the month of September, and 16 were removed for various reasons. The county has 46,025 registrants compared to 46,885 four years ago.

The number of black women on the rolls rose by 16, black men by 31, white women by 41, white men by 34, Hispanic women by 5 and Hispanic men by 3.

Gordon, Chattooga and Dade counties also ended up with net gains as of Oct. 1, while losses were reported in Bartow, Polk, Walker and Catoosa counties.

• Bartow had 48,893 registered voters, compared to 49,674 in September.
• Chattooga had 11,797 registered voters, compared to 11,727 in September.
• Polk had 18,889 registered voters, compared to 18,941 in September.
• Gordon had 25,049 registered voters, compared to 24,675 in September.
• Walker had 32,321 registered voters, compared to 32,447 in September.
• Catoosa had 32,238 registered voters, compared to 34,321 in September.
• Dade had 8,985 registered voters, compared to 8,864 in September.
  
  Georgia residents can check their registration status on the secretary of state’s My Voter Page website or by calling their county elections office, which is 706-291-5168 and located in Floyd County.
  
  Early voting by mail is already under way. Brandon said about 800 ballots had been mailed out to Floyd voters by last week.
  
  In-person early voting runs Oct. 15 – Nov. 2 during the week, with a Saturday polling scheduled for Oct. 27.
