The Floyd County Farm Bureau was recognized as one of the top county Farm Bureau programs in the state during the recent Georgia Farm Bureau Convention on Jekyll Island.
The county chapter was named a finalist for the prestigious McKemie Award — the highest honor that a county Farm Bureau in the state can receive — in recognition of the activities it sponsored during the past year to promote agriculture.
The McKemie Award is a memorial to one of the organization’s former presidents, W.J. McKemie.
“We appreciate the numerous activities Floyd County Farm Bureau has conducted during the past year to increase awareness of agriculture in your community and your commitment to our state organization,” GFB President Zippy Duvall said.
Floyd County was one of eight finalists, which also included Polk County, in the 1,801 to 3,000-member category. Greene County was the overall winner. Also, Chattooga County was a finalist in the 3,001 plus-member division.
