The co-presidents of the Friends of the Library, Ruth Forrester and Karen Smith, recently presented a check for $16,444.99 to Delana Hickman, director of the Sara Hightower Regional Library System.

The donation is from the Friends of the Library 2012 book sale, silent auction, memorials and honorariums.

The Friends of the Library was established in 1985 to create support for the library and to keep the community informed about the library’s resources, services and needs.

The Friends provide financial assistance to the library for items which would be of great benefit but cannot be purchased from the normal budget.

The Friends Book Store offers many current and inexpensive books throughout the year and a used book sale is held each fall.
