The confidential testing will take place Saturday at the Women of WORTH clinic, 1513 Dean St., from noon to 5 p.m.
Women of WORTH will also offer free urine-based testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea. No appointment is need. For more information call the AIDS Resource Council at 706-290-9098 or Women of WORTH at 706-232-3408.
AIDS Resource Council board member Frank Tant said the event will promote awareness.
“HIV and AIDS is the leading medical cause of death for women ages 14-44 (worldwide)…’” he said. “But you can protect your partners and loved ones by not putting them in jeopardy if you learn proper protection methods to not spread the disease. Unfortunately, heterosexual women of color are the fastest-growing population of newly HIV positive people in Georgia.”
