Randy Ingle, who led the Rome Braves to the South Atlantic League playoffs last fall, will be back as the team’s manager this season — and he will be joined by a familiar name in the dugout.

Bobby Moore is returning to Rome after a two-year absence and will be back in his role as hitting coach for the Rome club, which announced its 2013 coaching staff on Thursday.

Moore was a member of the coaching staff during the R-Braves’ inaugural season in 2003, and he remained with the team for the next eight seasons. He then spent the last two seasons with the high-A Lynchburg Hillcats.

The R-Braves also announced that pitching coach Derrick Lewis will be returning for his third season with the team.

Ingle, meanwhile, will be entering his 22nd season as a manager in the Atlanta Braves’ organization and is in his second stint with the Rome club.

“We welcome such an experienced staff to guide the 2013 Rome Braves,” said Rome general manager Mike Dunn in a press release.

Last season, Ingle orchestrated one of the most remarkable turnarounds in minor league baseball.

The R-Braves finished in last place in the SAL’s Southern Division in the first half of the season, and owned the league’s worst record.

But in the second half of the season, the Braves owned the league’s best record, and won the Southern Division’s second-half crown.

The team advanced to the playoffs, losing to Asheville in three games.

The R-Braves open the season on April 4 in Savannah, and then play their home opener on April 6 at State Mutual Stadium against Savannah. 

NOTE: The R-Braves also announced on Thursday that trainer Kyle Damschroder will join the club this season.

Damschroder will be in his third season with the Atlanta organization. He spent the previous two seasons with the rookie-level Danville Braves.
