The Albany Herald reports that Judge Wayne Ellerbee settled the special arbitration case involving more than $886,000 in annual revenues. Ellerbee determined that the municipal governments of Ashburn, Sycamore and Rebecca will get half of the money, with half also going to Turner County.
The cities filed suit after the county increased their take to 65 percent.
Lawyers involved said it is the first ruling under a new arbitration process established by the state General Assembly. The cities asked Ellerbee for almost 60 percent of the money. The county argued for it was entitled to 75 percent.
Similar suits are pending in other Georgia counties.
