The second annual Moving Day! A Walk for Parkinson’s will take place Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at State Mutual Stadium.
Moving Day is a fundraising walk benefiting the National Parkinson Foundation’s Georgia Chapter based in Rome. Programs and services provided by the chapter include patient and community education, support groups, wellness programs and advocacy opportunities.
Poulsen and her husband David Brown will help cut the starting ribbon and lead the walkers along the river trail surrounding State Mutual Stadium. Poulsen is one of the co-founders of the Rome Parkinson’s Support Group, which eventually became the National Parkinson Foundation’s Georgia Chapter.
Poulsen is a former special education teacher with Rome City Schools.
In honor of Poulsen’s career, NPF/GA is adding a new “Children’s Costume Walk” that will take place during the Moving Day event at 10:30 a.m. Children age 12 and younger are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes.
