A FRIEND called me, telling me about her recent trip to the market to pick up the makings of cornbread dressing for her family Thanksgiving meal. She said that the place was packed with people pushing loaded grocery carts and lining up at the cash registers. She was wondering aloud what all of the news about the shortage of money and hungry people was all about for it sure did not look like it today at the packed market.

Thanksgiving Day is a day for everyone to thank God for His many blessings, but how many took the few minutes it will take to say Grace before they dive into the feast before them this year? How many will remember to thank Him for the clothes on their backs, the shoes on their feet, the warm bed that they sleep in at night? In spite of our shaky economy, we are blessed.

However, in spite of the number of loaded grocery carts today, there will be hungry people again this year. May we all share what we have with those who have nothing and remember to say Grace before we eat.
