Today was the February meeting of the Floyd Rome Retired Educators. I was privileged to witness one of the kindest outpourings of charity that I have ever seen.

At the end of the regular meeting a member stood and shared with the group that our neighbors to the north in the Adairsville community were in great need of assistance, and that assistance could be greatly enhanced by cash donations to purchase Walmart gift cards for their benefit.

The sight of all those retired educators reaching for wallets, checkbooks, and purses as they exited the building was exhilarating. You could see and sense the joy as they were able to try and lessen the pain of their neighbors.

The actions of these retired folks, who have already given so much, and who contributed $675, made me extremely proud to be one of them and to have them as my neighbors here in Floyd County.
