An old mill house in Lindale burned Thursday morning after electrical circuits in the house were overloaded and shorted out, according to Rome Fire Department Fire Safety Specialist Johnie Evans.
The fire at 301 Avenue D in Lindale started around 7:30 a.m. Engines 2 and 10, Quint 3, Ladder 1, Car 25 and 33 and Truck 29 were called to the scene to extinguish the flames.
Evans said the fire started in the bathroom in the house after an electric heater shorted out.
Charlene Tucker and her 18-year-old son Brandon, who attends Pepperell High School, were displaced after the fire and staying with neighbors until they could find a new place to live. She said that she and her son lost everything in the fire, and had been in contact with the Red Cross.
