Police: Sunday night shooting was an attempted robberyRome police said Monday that a Sunday night shooting on Highland Circle was an attempted armed robbery.
According to Det. John Glaze with the Rome Police Department:
Rome police responded to a call of a reported shooting in the 2000 block of Highland Circle around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday.
A 20-year-old man was injured when a male allegedly walked up to a vehicle in which the victim was sitting and shot him twice with a .22-caliber handgun. At least one of the wounds was in the victim’s chest.
Glaze said the suspect allegedly was trying to rob the victim at gunpoint, but he did not get any money or valuables from the victim.
Glaze identified the victim as Terrence Wood. He was treated and released from the emergency room at Floyd Medical Center late Sunday night.
Glaze said that a friend of Wood’s drove him to FMC in a gray Cadillac shortly after the shooting. Officers examined the car in the FMC parking lot, searching for any clues or evidence.
Police said witnesses identified a possible suspect, and officers were searching for the man for questioning.
