A Trion man was killed and three others were sent to the hospital in a two car wreck in Summerville this morning.

According to Joseph Swords with the Georgia State Patrol:

Steve Preston White, 56, of Trion, was driving his red 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee this morning when he struck a curb at the intersection of Highland Avenue and U.S. 27. The SUV flipped onto its side and then struck a 1997 Ford Windstar minivan before landing on its roof.

The driver of the Windstar, Marsha Lin Kessler, 47, of Summerville along with her passengers Angela Ann Summerlin, 20, of Summerville and a 4-year-old boy, were injured in the wreck and transported to Floyd Medical Center. Kessler and Summerlin were still in the emergency room at Floyd Medical Center as of 2 p.m.

"Because of some speed issues there, he had a lot of momentum and kept going," Swords said.

I CAN NOT AFFORD ANOTHER TAX!!!

I can not understand why anyone would want to increase their

taxes again on this another expensive SPLOST projects. Why in the world do we

need a $ 26,696,250 county-wide public safety communications

system. Then $ 4,000,000 to construct and Emergency Operations Center. It takes no more

than 30 minutes to travel from down town Rome to any

part of Floyd county. It takes only a micro second to call

someone on the phone. This is a waste of our money.

Not only

will this cost you $10 per $ 1000 that you spend but who

will pay for running this Mega projects. It is estimated

to cost $100,000 to @ 400,000 or more dollars the first year to operate the County-Wide

Public Safety Communications Systems. Then how much the next year? Then the

government will have to increase your property taxes to pay for this unnecessary

projects.

Also Floyd county has 100 acres across from the

present 300 acres that they want to acquire for $ 5,983,500 so it can

sit for another 10 or more years at a cost of $ 20,000 per acre. They can

not get anyone to use the present 100 acreas across the road.

Look at the building across the road and you will see an empty

building that was Florida Tile. Look in Shannon and you will find another

empty building that use to work 1500 employees and it sit empty.

Look again down the road below Shannon and you will find another

large piece of land that the county bought and it still sits empty.

Why should the people in Floyd county pay for the Renovation and

inprovements at Barron Stadium. What is wrong with what we have

now. Why should Floyd county pay $ 1,899,631 for the Renovation and Contruction of CIty

owned North west georgia Regional Commission Building.

I get so tired of hearing people say "well we don't have to pay

for all of this because people that come into our area will help pay for

the projects", but they don't understand that when the project

are built who pays for the upkeep of the building and personel

You and I do, with increase on our property taxes. No money is

alloted in the Splost projects to help pay for the upkeep. So you

pay not only $10 per $1000 you spend but your

property taxes increases. Remember all our property taxes

increase by $200 to $ 300 this year because of lost of jobs

and poor economy. I will vote No!!!.

I can not afford another Tax.
