A Rome man waived formal arraignment in federal court and pleaded not guilty Thursday to possessing and receiving child pornography.

Chadwick Keith Brannon received several videos around August 2008 that contained a minor engaging in sex acts, and the videos were found on his computer after he was arrested on counterfeiting charges that October, according to the indictment.

Brannon was arrested after reportedly attempting to pass a counterfeit $20 bill in Cherokee County, Ala. Federal agents confiscated more counterfeit money from a Rome residence as well as computer equipment they said were involved in the manufacture of the bills.

This was when, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Jones, federal agents allegedly found the videos in question on Brannon’s computer.

Brannon has also been charged in Floyd County with five felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child, concerning the same incident. He was convicted of counterfeiting.

A detention hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m.
