Rome police are investigating an incident where a man tried to pass 11 counterfeit $20 bills at a Shorter Avenue convenience store, according to a Rome police report.

According to the report:

An employee at the Kangaroo store, located at 6 Shorter Ave., told police a man came in the store on Thursday and tried to purchase a money order for $220 with fake bills.

After the employee determined that the money wasn’t legitimate, the man ran out of the store and got into an older model white Toyota Corolla that was driven by another man.

The counterfeit money was turned in as evidence at the Rome Police Department.

A surveillance video from the store showed that the man was a black male wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and an Oakland A’s baseball cap. He had a goatee and appeared to be in his 30s.
