John Massey is making plans to open the Cotton Block Antique Mall, 114 Broad Street July 1.

The building, owned by Massey, has been home to Antiques on Broad, operated by Patsy Lake for the past ten years. Lake is retiring June 30.

“I am going to re-open the antique mall,” Massey said. I’ve had some calls from some of the dealers that want to stay over there.”

Massey will also be moving his jewelry store now at 110 Broad Street into the antique mall. “We’re going to combine the two businesses. We’ll still have some jewelry, we’ll still do jewelry repair,” Massey said. “The jewelry store will probably be the antique mall’s largest vendor. We’ve still got a lot of clientele that don’t want us to go away.”

His partner in the jewelry store, Bruce McDonald, will also be moving into the antique mall as independent vendor doing clock repair, watch repair and appraisal work and things that he has been doing with Massey.
