New County Water Meters

We need to be aware of the new water meters the county is now using. I've been in my residence 10 years and my usage has always been between 3 & 5 thousand gallons per month. Now, the water dept. says I've used 16000 last month. I haven't watered my lawn or garden, and there are only 2 of us living here. I keep trying to tell them this is not accurate, but they insist it is. I have no leaks, and the meter does not move unless water is turned on somewhere. We are at work 8 - 10 hours a day, when no water is used at all. Does this make sense to anyone? What are we to do? They have a monopoly on the water, and can cut us off anytime they want, which is really illegal. So if you get a bad meter that is calibrated wrong, what recourse do you have? We may be getting the short end on this one.

I had a similar problem with the county water department and their "friendly" employees. My issue was resolved when I made a call to the county commissioner, which I suggest you make a call to.

this sounds all to familar to me.... i hate to say it , but there is nothing you can do about it. i had the same problem years ago. the lady at the water department always smiled and told me to leave or she would call the police, when i kept complaining. i now have a well. this is the most lazy and crooked bunch i have ever seen.
