Tickets for all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage are $5 in advance or $5.50 at the door. The event starts at 6 a.m. at the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill.
Pork sausage also will be available for $4 per pound. Sausage pre-orders and advance tickets are available by e-mailing noonoptimists@comcast.net or by calling 706-236-3609.
“The pancake breakfast is our only fundraiser and it supports our club for the entire year,” said organizer Jim Bojo. “The more tickets and sausage we sell, the more we can help the youth in our local community.”
According to Bojo, last year’s event raised a record $18,000.
“We don’t necessarily have a specific goal set, but every year we try to surpass the previous year,” he said.
Proceeds are used to sponsor events such as the Student of the Month, Student of the Year and Terrific Kid programs, as well as essay and oral contests and scholarships for first-year college students.
The Noon Optimist Club also provides financial support to such youth-oriented programs as Punt, Pass, and Kick, a junior golf tournament and the library’s vacation reading program.
Other beneficiaries include Floyd Against Drugs, the law enforcement appreciation barbecue, Community Criminal Justice Scholarship, Grands Who Care, Harbor House, Hospitality House, Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers and the Civil Air Patrol.
“The pancake breakfast pays for all those things,” he said.
The club is also soliciting corporate sponsorships at the Diamond ($1000), Gold ($500), Silver ($250) and Bronze ($100) levels.
