Voters planning to cast ballots for Barack Obama, Mitt Romney or Gary Johnson have two days left to be sure they’re registered.

A host of local races also are on the Nov. 6 ballot, and Georgia residents have through the close of business Tuesday to be sure they’re on the rolls.

Registration may be done online or at a number of government offices, including Department of Driver Services locations, although state and federal offices are closed Monday for Columbus Day. Floyd County offices are open, and Elections Clerk Vanessa Waddell said it’s better to sign up locally, anyway.

“Since we’re so close to the deadline, I recommend they come here and do it,” she said.

That goes for voters who have moved or changed their names and need to update their records. The Floyd County Elections Office is in the basement of the County Administration Building, 12 E. Fourth Ave.

Elections Clerk Donna Braden said mailed-in forms will be accepted as long they are postmarked by Oct. 9.

For more information check the Georgia secretary of state website at mvp.sos.state.ga.us or call the Floyd County Elections Office at 706-291-5123.
