A Pollock Street house in South Rome was heavily damaged by fire early Sunday morning, according to Rome Fire Department officials.
According to Robert Owens with the Rome Fire Department:
Firefighters were able to extinguish an overnight blaze at 5 Pollock Street in South Rome. The fire was reported around 2:45 a.m.
Owens said the back of the house received the bulk of the damage. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, he said, and samples from the scene are going to be processed for evidence.
“It appears to be kind of suspicious,” Owens said.
Owens also said the person living in the house was in the process of moving out and could not immediately be reached.
