After an unusual amount of deliberation, the tipoff time has now been set for Wednesday night's Model-Jordan quarterfinal matchup in the Class AA state tournament in Columbus.

The game will start at 6 p.m., according to information provided by Model.

The administrators from the two schools had been unable to agree on a tipoff time this week, and the GSHA eventually had to step in today and issue "a recommendation" for the starting time, according to Model officials.

The Model boys are a No. 2 seed. Jordan is a No. 1 seed.

The Devils are one of three teams from Greater Rome who are still alive in state tourney action.

The Calhoun girls will host top-ranked Wesleyan tonight at 6 p.m. in the Class AA Elite Eight at Calhoun Middle School, and the Darlington girls visit St. Francis (in Alpharetta) on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Class A private-school tournament.

NOTE: The Class AA boys bracket on the GHSA web site has an "H" listed beneath Model --- which apparently led some fans to believe that Model is the home team for Wednesday's game.

But the game is at Jordan. (The higher seeded team has hosting duties in the first three rounds).
