Property taxes for Rome and Floyd County are due today, but, they’ll be considered as being on time if they’re received by Monday.

Taxes can be paid by mail at P.O. Box 26 Rome, GA. 30162, in person at the Historic Floyd County Courthouse at 101 W. Fifth Ave., or online at floydcountytax.com. There is also a drop box in the courthouse parking lot directly across from the new courthouse entrance.

For those who pay late, interest accrues on the 1st of each month after the due date, at 1 percent of the original base amount, until the bill is paid in full. Additionally, after 90 days from the due date, a 10 percent penalty is applied plus a lien attaches to the property with associated lien charges.

Those with questions can reach the tax office at 706-291-5148.

Payne can also be reached by e-mail at paynek@floydcountyga.org. Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
