The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority is hosting the second annual Leprechaun-a-thon 5K and 2 Mile Health Walk to be held this St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, at 1 PM, Saturday, March 16, 2013. The public is invited to come out dressed in festive attire and cheer for over six-hundred “Leprechaun-a-thoners” racing and walking through downtown Rome.

The race/walk will start outside Barron Stadium and wind through historic downtown Rome on Broad Street and along the Heritage Park trail. Participants will finish with a victory lap inside Barron Stadium.

St. Patrick’s Day Broad Street festivities include the Ginger Pride Walk at 11:00 am, St. Petrick’s Day Parade at 12:00 pm and Leprechaun-a-thon at 1:00 pm.

The weather forecast is very favorable, showing sunny skies and temperatures in the 70’s; perfect for spectators to come out and enjoy the festive fun on Broad Street.

The 5K race will be chip timed by the presenting sponsor, Harbin Clinic Sports Health Foundation.

Race day registration for both the 5K & Health Walk is $25.

All participants will receive an armband for race day discounts at participating downtown restaurants and stores to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
