Five girls from Rome competed recently in the IronKids Triathlon in Alpharetta. The competitors were Bailey Smith, Anne Scott Smith, Avery Smith, Jane Tullis and Anna Cate Loveman.

The competition featured more than 900 competitors from all over the southeast, and was one of eight regional qualifiers for the IronKids National Championship.

Tullis and Loveman each took second place in the eight-year-old, and the seven-year-old divisions, respectively. The top five from each age group received invitations to the IronKids National Championship, which will take place in Tucson, Ariz., on Sunday, Oct. 4. Both girls earned their way into the national competition.
