Rome resident Sharlene Hines was a guest on the nationally syndicated Dr. Phil Show on Dec. 14.

The episode, titled “Holiday Checklist: Is it OK to…?” was filmed Dec. 8 and Hines was flown to Hollywood, Calif. As a guest for the segment.

Hines is a paraprofessional at Hamilton Crossing Elementary School in Cartersville.

She was asked “Is there anything wrong with re-gifting?” The term is used for the act of giving someone a gift which you had previously been given by someone else.

Host Phil McGraw pulled Hines’ question from the set’s Christmas tree at the beginning of the show and played a video of Hines describing her re-gifting habits.

“I re-gift presents all the time. I have been re-gifting as long as I can remember,” Sharlene admitted to the show’s cameras. “Have you ever received multiples at Christmas, or something you couldn’t use, or it just wasn’t you or not your color? Instead of sticking it in the back of the closet and forgetting about it, stick it in the back of the closet in the re-gift box.”

In the studio, Hines told Dr. Phil that she re-gifts throughout the year to everyone from her husband to her co-workers. She said she gives away nice items as well as ones that aren’t great, and the worst thing she re-gifted was bad-smelling lotion, which she gave to her own mother.
