Hannah Freeman, a sophomore music education major from Sandersville, has been crowned Miss Shorter College.

Along with her crown, Freeman was awarded a $2,000 scholarship, as well as a chance to participate in the upcoming Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant.

Freeman, the daughter of Rick and Lanie Freeman, is a member of the Shorter Chorale, the Georgia Thespian Society and Mu Phi Epsilon. She is also a member of the Students National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference of Georgia. In her free time, Freeman enjoys singing, drawing, photography, makeup artistry, horseback riding, listening to audio books and watching movies. Her platform for the Miss Shorter College Scholarship Pageant was "Encouraging Support for Cancer Research."

Presented by Shorter College's Office of Student Activities and the Student Government Association, the scholarship pageant featured five phases, including a 10-minute private interview, a lifestyle and fitness swimwear competition, an artistic expression/performing arts competition, an on-stage interview and an evening wear competition.

The Miss Shorter College Scholarship Pageant is a preliminary to the Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant.

Shorter College senior Grace Nelson, a music major from Sandy Springs, was named first runner-up and received a $1,600 scholarship. Junior business administration major Kaitlin Pauley, of Summerville, was named second runner-up and presented with a $1,200 scholarship. Myra Compton, a sophomore chemistry and biology major from Summerville, was named third runner-up.
