John Schroeder of Schroeder’s New Deli said the big tree that his courtyard stage was built around fell at about 10 p.m. Monday.
“That old tree has seen a lot of bands and musicians over the years,” he said. “Thankfully it did minimal damage to the building itself. We got really lucky. It looks like it just took down a few power lines but didn’t do a whole lot of damage to the roof at all.”
Schroeder said once the debris is removed he will have the stage repaired so that it may continue to host more bands and musicians for years to come.
The weather system that knocked over the tree also dropped 1.18 inches of rain at the airport during the first day of the month. The current monthly total, 1.19 inches, is well ahead of October’s normal amount of 0.26 inches.
