CUMMING, Ga. (AP) — With no sign of a missing boater on Lake Lanier, rescuers are planning to resume their search of the lake just northeast of Atlanta.

Crews have been searching for the man since late Monday, when a boat was spotted going in circles with no one aboard, eventually running out of gas. Authorities say the man was last seen fishing from the boat Monday night.

Searchers have focused their efforts near the spot where the boat was discovered, which is off Lanier Beach South Road.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources Sgt. Greg Colson tells The Times of Gainesville that searchers found the man's fishing rod floating in the lake in that same area.

Authorities said the 47-year-old man's name is being withheld at the request of family members.
