Shorter College students Emily Tweedy and Laura Collins swept the recent Georgia Music Teachers’ Association Young Artist Voice Competition by winning first and second place, respectively.
Tweedy, a junior from Stone Mountain, and Collins, a senior from Corsicana, Texas, are vocal performance majors at Shorter.
Because of her first-place win, Tweedy will now advance to the Southern Division of the Music Teachers National Association Competition in January. That event is scheduled in Birmingham, Ala.
