Valdosta State used three goals by sophomore Blakely McClellan to take the Gulf South Conference match up versus the Lady Hawks at Ben Brady Field, 3-0.

Shorter (4-11-1, 3-5-1 GSC) was able to put five of their six shots on goal, but ran into Olivia Miles in goal for the Blazers, GSC Defender of the Week for October 9. Miles was able to turn away all five shots she faced.

The Lady Hawks were outshot by a 20-6 margin forcing Katie Stachula to make eight saves in goal. The saves added to her growing total for the season, she now stands at 81 saves, good enough to tie for third most in school history for a season with Corrie McIlravey-Davidson (2006).

Aline Bez Tamiosso was able to get her foot on two shots for the game; Diamond Davis, Kalley Estep, Cintia Lamas, and Brandi Greenwald each tallied one apiece.

The Lady Hawks return to Ben Brady Field on November 1 in a match versus Young Harris at 7 pm. The two schools have played twice before, splitting the series one game apiece, with Shorter winning the 2011 match up 1-0 with the help of a Tamiosso goal.
